Gold on TradingView — Live XAU/USD Quote
Full TradingView Gold Chart (XAU/USD)
Which TradingView symbol is gold?
There is no single ticker. The chart above uses OANDA:XAUUSD, the over-the-counter spot price of one troy ounce of gold in US dollars — the symbol most traders mean by "gold on TradingView". TVC:GOLD is TradingView's own aggregated spot gold index, and COMEX:GC1! is the front-month gold futures contract, which trades at a small premium to spot. All three track each other closely; the differences are basis and feed, not direction.
Is this the real TradingView chart?
Yes. These are TradingView's official embeddable widgets, streaming the same market data as tradingview.com. The top toolbar changes the timeframe, the symbol box switches instruments, and the indicator menu carries the full TradingView library. The one thing an embedded widget cannot do is save a layout to an account — for that you need to open the chart on TradingView itself.
Why use it here instead?
No login wall, no watchlist limits and no upgrade prompts. If all you want is to look at the gold chart — check a level, add a moving average, compare silver — the embedded version loads straight into the chart. Every page on this site works the same way.

Setting Up a Gold Chart on TradingView
Pick the right timeframe
Gold's character changes completely with the timeframe. The 1-minute and 5-minute charts are dominated by spread and session noise — useful for execution, useless for direction. The 1-hour chart is where intraday structure becomes readable, and the daily chart is where the trend that most people are actually trading lives. Start on the daily, then drop down. The gold 1 minute chart page covers the intraday end in detail.
Indicators worth adding
On the daily XAU/USD chart, a 50 and 200 period moving average, RSI, and horizontal levels at prior swing highs and lows do most of the work. Volume on spot gold is broker volume, not market volume, so treat it as indicative only — if you want real volume, put COMEX:GC1! on the chart instead. Our guide to reading a gold price chart goes through the full set.
Add a comparison series
The compare tool is the most underused feature on a gold chart. Overlay TVC:DXY to see the dollar relationship, TVC:US10Y or the 10-year TIPS yield for the real-rate driver, and OANDA:XAGUSD to check whether a move is precious-metals-wide or gold-specific. Two of those three are already charted above.
Watch the session clock, not the calendar day
The spot gold trading day rolls at 5pm US Eastern, so a "daily" candle opens the previous evening. Set the chart timezone to New York if you want candles that line up with US data releases, or leave it on UTC to match most European desks. Spot gold does not trade from Friday 5pm to Sunday 6pm Eastern — a flat weekend on the chart is normal, not a broken feed.
Understand which feed you are looking at
Every broker aggregates its own pool of bullion-bank liquidity, so OANDA, FXCM, FOREXCOM and PEPPERSTONE XAU/USD feeds sit a few cents apart. For charting, structure and analysis this is immaterial. For execution, the spread you actually pay matters far more than which feed drew the candle.
Gold in a currency other than the dollar
Type XAUEUR, XAUGBP, XAUJPY, XAUAUD or XAUCAD into the symbol box of any chart above. Gold in your own currency often tells a very different story from XAU/USD — a dollar rally can mask a gold bull market for everyone outside the US. The multi-currency gold section shows six of them side by side.

Frequently asked questions
What is the TradingView symbol for gold?
OANDA:XAUUSD is the most widely used — spot gold in US dollars per troy ounce. TVC:GOLD is TradingView's own aggregated spot gold index, and COMEX:GC1! is the front-month futures contract. The charts on this page use OANDA:XAUUSD, and you can switch to any of the others in the symbol box.
Do I need a TradingView account to use these charts?
No. These are TradingView's official embedded widgets, free to use with no account, no login and no sign-up. Timeframes, indicators and symbol changes all work. The only feature that requires an account on tradingview.com is saving a chart layout or alert.
Is the data the same as tradingview.com?
Yes — the widget streams the same OANDA XAU/USD feed you would see on TradingView itself, in real time. It is the identical charting engine, served in an embed rather than in the full application.
Can I add indicators and drawings to the chart?
Indicators, yes — the indicator menu in the chart toolbar opens the full TradingView library, including moving averages, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands and Ichimoku. Drawings work within the session but are not saved between visits, because an embedded widget has no account to save them to.
Why is the gold chart flat at the weekend?
Because spot gold does not trade then. The market runs from roughly 6pm US Eastern on Sunday to 5pm Eastern on Friday. A flat line across Saturday and Sunday is the market being closed, not a data problem.
