Introduction
This privacy policy describes how GoldCharts.org ("we", "our", "the site") collects and uses information when you visit the website. By using GoldCharts.org, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Information we collect
GoldCharts.org is a public, read-only site. There are no user accounts, no logins, and no e-commerce. Information collected falls into the following categories:
- Information you provide directly. If you write to us by email (for example via [email protected]), we receive whatever information you choose to share — typically your email address, your name, and the content of your message.
- Server log data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records technical information about each request — IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, requested URL, timestamp, and HTTP status. These logs are used for operational and security purposes.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, on what devices, and roughly where in the world readers come from. Google Analytics may set cookies and process IP addresses for that purpose.
- Advertising data. When advertising is served on the site, third-party ad providers may set cookies or read device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. See "Advertising and Google AdSense" below.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use cookies and similar storage mechanisms for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary: none beyond what your browser needs to render the site.
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies (typically
_ga,_ga_*,_gid) used to count unique visitors and measure traffic patterns. - Advertising: cookies and identifiers used by Google and other ad partners to deliver ads, frequency-cap them, and measure performance. These are described in more detail in our cookie policy.
You can control cookies through your browser settings or, where required by law, through the consent banner that may appear on your first visit. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from using the site, but it may reduce the relevance of advertising you see.
Advertising and Google AdSense
GoldCharts.org is funded by display advertising. Ads on this site may be served by Google AdSense and other Google ad partners.
- Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can read more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly via aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
Third-party services we use
- TradingView — embedded chart and news widgets. TradingView may collect information when its widgets load on the page; see the TradingView privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — webfonts are served from Google's CDN, which may receive your IP address as part of standard HTTP requests.
- Google Analytics — see Google's privacy policy.
- Google AdSense and Google ad partners — see "Advertising and Google AdSense" above.
How information is used
Information collected through the site is used to:
- operate and maintain the site, including diagnosing technical problems and protecting against abuse;
- understand which articles and charts are useful so we can improve them;
- respond to questions, corrections, and other messages received by email;
- display advertising and measure its performance;
- comply with legal obligations.
Information you provide by email is used solely to reply to you and is not added to any marketing list.
Sharing of information
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by the third-party services listed above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense and partners, Google Fonts, TradingView) under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if compelled by valid legal process or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of GoldCharts.org or others.
Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar)
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to information about you:
- Access — request a copy of personal information held about you.
- Correction — request that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Deletion — request that information be deleted, subject to legal exceptions.
- Restriction and objection — restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- Data portability — receive personal information in a portable format where applicable.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Do not sell or share / opt-out of targeted advertising — California and other US-state residents may exercise these rights. We do not "sell" personal information for money, but the use of advertising cookies may be considered "sharing" or "sale" under some US-state laws; you can opt out via the methods listed under "Advertising and Google AdSense" above.
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data-protection authority (in the EU, EEA, or UK) if you believe your rights have been violated.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Data retention
Server logs are typically retained for up to 90 days before being purged or anonymised, unless a longer period is required for security or legal reasons. Email correspondence is retained for as long as it is operationally useful and then deleted. Analytics data retention is configured according to the controls Google Analytics provides; identifiers older than 14 months are not retained beyond Google's default retention windows where it is within our control to set them.
International transfers
The site is delivered globally over a CDN, and the third-party services we rely on (notably Google) are headquartered in the United States. By using the site you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, subject to the safeguards each provider relies on (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
Children's privacy
GoldCharts.org is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information processed by the site, including TLS for site delivery and access controls on operational systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in our practices, the third-party services we rely on, or applicable law. The "last reviewed" date at the top of this page indicates when it was most recently updated. Material changes will be flagged at the top of the page where practical.
